Featured Panelists:

Maria Delgado, Ph.D., Visiting Assistant Professor for Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at UTA. Dr. Delgado has over fifteen years of experience in community college administration (academic affairs and student services). Prior to coming to UTA, Dr. Delgado was a full-time administrator at Tarrant County College- Southeast. She led the Supplemental Instruction Program and Hispanic Serving Initiatives. In addition, she served as coordinator of academic programs and adjunct faculty at Dallas College-Northlake Campus. Currently, Dr. Delgado is researching the experiences of Latinx students enrolled at a community college in North Texas and their perception of the term Latinx.

Kimshi Hickman, Ph.D., the Assistant Vice Provost for Retention and Completion at UTA. Dr. Hickman has served in higher education for over 20 years in student affairs, enrollment management and academic affairs. Her career focus for the past 10 years has been on increasing retention and graduation rates through work in academic support programs and retention focused initiatives. She serves on the executive board of the Peer-Led Team Learning International Society. Dr. Hickman’s research interests are effectiveness of academic support models with underrepresented students, FTIC persistence, and transfer persistence.  

Session 2: Accountability in Higher Education

This panel focuses on the relationship between accountability and our student services, including how state and federal accountability requirements impact and/or measure what we are currently providing for students.

Featured Panelists:

Ricardo Rodriguez, Ph.D., is the associate director for Advancement Integration at Dallas College.   He has over 22 years of experience working in higher education, including faculty, associate dean, and executive dean. He was born in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua. Mex. and moved to the U.S. in 2001 to pursue graduate studies. He has a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Cd. Juarez. He earned his first master’s degree in Mathematical Sciences from New Mexico State University. He completed a second master’s in Applied Mathematics from the University of Houston. Ricardo also holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. His professional areas of interest and research are regional accreditation, compliance assurance methods, mathematics education, higher education policy, leadership studies, and data analytics. 

Molly Albart is UTA’s Assistant Vice President for Student Success and Transition in the Division of Student Affairs and has worked at UTA since 2000.  
Her role currently oversees New Maverick Orientation, Transition Programs and Services, Military and Veteran Services, Student Publications, and Cultural Engagement and Social Change. In addition, she is responsible for division level data, assessment and reporting, budget management, commencement ceremonies, and the marketing and communications team. Molly has been an integral part of campus-wide student success efforts including the implementation of first year experience courses and the Maverick Advantage initiative focused on marketable skill development through experiential learning.
